The Mæ project stems from the observation of a paradox: Liguria possesses one of Italy’s most layered and distinctive gastronomic heritages, yet this heritage remains largely invisible to younger generations. Products exist, producers continue their work, and practices are passed down, but the channels through which this transmission takes place are increasingly fragile and disconnected from the places and everyday contexts in which young people live. The research identifies four structural issues: the disconnection between products and territory, the loss of dialect as a means of cultural transmission, the weakness of existing narrative structures, and the invisibility of heritage within the target audience’s everyday channels. The analysis of the Ligurian context and of the consumption behaviours of young people aged 18 to 35, complemented by a comparative analysis of ten cases, provides the empirical foundation for the project. Building on these considerations, Mæ takes the form of a multi-level communication and valorization system designed to bring gastronomic heritage closer to the everyday contexts and languages of younger generations. The project integrates digital and physical dimensions, connecting content, opportunities for encounter, and recognition tools, with the aim of progressively establishing a relationship between young people, producers, practices, and territory. The project considers communication design as a tool for cultural transmission. Its aim is not to promote individual products, but to make visible the system of knowledge, practices, places, and people that produces them, fostering a more conscious relationship between heritage, territory, and community.

Abstract
Its aim is not to promote individual products, but to make visible the system of knowledge, practices, places, and people that produces them, fostering a more conscious relationship between heritage, territory, and community.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
