Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a complex and increasingly prevalent eating disorder (ED), often associated with appetite loss and extreme thinness. However, these represent only some of the visible symptoms of a much deeper condition: anorexia is a life shaped by relentless self-criticism and a distorted relationship with one’s own body; it is a constant search for inner peace through the deliberate attempt to lose weight in the hope of achieving the ideal of beauty and thinness so strongly promoted by contemporary society, while concealing behind it a profound psychological, emotional, and relational complexity. This thesis project arises from the research desire to combine my direct personal experience with AN with my academic background in Sustainable Design for the Food System. Rather than proposing a therapeutic intervention, it seeks to explore the role of design in the different stages of the sensory experience as a complementary resource alongside clinical and medical treatment. The project focuses on the gradual process of reapproaching food, understood as a "feared stimulus", through progressive sensory exposure. The resulting digital tool is designed to act as an intermediate step between existing clinical visits and the home environment, bringing the patient closer to food through the senses, in a controlled manner and with the support of the professional.

Abstract
The resulting digital tool is designed to act as an intermediate step between existing clinical visits and the home environment, bringing the patient closer to food through the senses, in a controlled manner and with the support of the professional.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
